My Life in Kenya is an autobiography by Lionel Hardcastle about his time as a coffee planter in Kenya after having served his time in the Korean war. The book did not sell well despite the effort of his publisher, Alistair Deacon. Lionel would get annoyed when he would tell people the name of the book then be asked what it was about. His partner and current wife, Jean Pargetter, supported him throughout his journey as an author and supplied him with many of her own secretaries
